FERTILIZATION TECHNICIAN

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operates fertilization equipment & spreads materials at appropriate rates
  • Mixes pesticides using proper mix rates based on product labels
  • Inventories used & unused materials each day & uses appropriate disposal methods
  • Accurately completes all records for each application every day (times, amounts, weather, etc.) according to O.D.A. regulations
  • Makes sure all entries at properties are properly flagged according to O.D.A. regulations
  • Cleans all hard surfaces from over-application of product with a broom or a blower before leaving property
  • Loads & unloads equipment, tools and debris daily
  • Operates, loads & unloads material with a skid steer or manually
  • Troubleshoots all problems on the job sites assigned
  • Clean job sites, yard and shop
  • Performs snow removal and de-icing when required
  • Trains & develops new associates to insure proper techniques are being used
  • Accurately completes timesheets & work orders daily detailing work completed & materials used that day per location or use a PDA to capture this information
  • Attends and participates in all scheduled meetings
  • Informs manager of the progress on all jobs and the specific conditions of those jobs
  • Observes appropriate safety practices regarding the usage of all equipment at all times
  • May work in a labor or foreman capacity in any division as needed due to work flow
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED Certification
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Prefer CDL-A/B License
  • Prefer Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association Landscape Certification(s)
  • Prefer Ohio Department of Agriculture Certification(s)
  • This position does require the ability to operate a truck with or without an attached trailer, a skid loader, a backhoe, a tractor, and a 1 ton truck
  • Advanced English language skills allowing the candidate the ability to read, analyze and interpret technical information
  • Medium Math skills allowing the candidate to compute rate, ratio and percentage with fractions and decimals
  • Advanced Reasoning skills allowing the candidate to draw conclusions with abstract or concrete facts
